Here is an overview of The Big Fiddle; in essence it is a football prediction game. You use your skill, luck, or a pin to predict the promotion and relegation positions, of The Barclays Premier League, the Coca Cola Football League’s three divisions, and the Blue Square Premier [Conference]. Just to pique your interest we also include the winners, runners-up, and semi-finalists of the three major domestic cup competitions. These are the League Cup, FA Cup, and the FA Trophy, (non league FA Cup) played for by the teams outside the top 4 divisions. More details and information can be found at this site:

We have a scoring system, which encourages accurate predictions. This is a score of 3 points for each correct prediction, a score of 1 point for each prediction that is in the correct zone, and a minus point for each prediction in the wrong zone.

In the cups a correct prediction scores 3 points, others reaching the last four score 1 point each.

In the event of a tied score then a tiebreak is used, this comprises of the number of correct 3 point scores. In the event of a further tied score then a 2nd tiebreak is used, this comprises of the highest of the 5 divisional scores.

Example

Fulham are predicted to win the Premier League, and the FA Cup but to finish as semi finalists in the League Cup.

If Fulham are top of the League you will score 3 points

If Fulham are Top 6 in League you will score 1 point

If Fulham are in relegation section of the League you will score –1 point

If  Fulham win FA Cup you will score 3 points

If Fulham reach the semi’s or final you will score 1 point

If Fulham win the League Cup or reach the Final you will score 1 point

However, if Fulham lose in semi final you will score 3 points

So, there it is. The only time that scores matter is on Cup Final Day.

Although for the majority of players the fun is watching to see how all your teams are doing. As the tables on the Website are Updated weekly and more often if I get the chance. Will your selections do what you want, when you want them to? Never.

Who will you want to win when they play each other?

In the unlikely event that an error occurs in your selections. We reserve the right to substitute an incorrect selection with a team in the same league position on deadline day, or similar for cup selections.

Only time will tell, good luck one and all.
